Matthew 22 Journal

Matthew 22 journal

Proverbs of the day 22:4 The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

The parable of the wedding banquet tells me that God is inviting me to a feast and celebration. However, I allow many distractions to prevent me from partaking of that feast. Do you see a relationship with God as a set of rules that you must obey or a celebration of life and joy? This parable reminds me that the feast is available, but the enemy has uses many deceptive devices to rob me of an awesome experience with God. Today I will not allow this to happen. I’m going to the banquet.

In the end of Matthew 22, the Pharisees and Sadducees did not apply Proverbs 22:4. They showed their arrogance by trying so hard to trap him with questions about paying the temple tax, marriage and the resurrection, and the greatest commandment. Jesus responds with such wisdom. I love how he sums up the greatest commandments into two sentences: Love God and love your neighbor. My prayer today is that I can accomplish both. God take away my arrogance so I can love you and the incredible people you created.
