John 4 Journal

John 4 Journal

Proverbs of the day – Proverbs 1:23 Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. What do you think it would be like to know the thoughts of God?

John 4. When Jesus meets the woman at the well, he is willing to talk to her even though she is a Samaritan and a woman. Culturally, this was bad. To the surprise of his disciples, Jesus was willing to cross cultural boundaries of hate, in order to connect and share God’s love with everyone who will receive. Am I willing to do the same? Who needs the living water that provides eternal life?

I see an interesting contrast between the Samaritans and Jews. The Jews needed to see a sign before they would believe, while the Samaritans believed because of what Jesus said. Which one am I? Do I have to see a miraculous sign in order to believe and trust in Jesus?

My prayer today is that God will put people in my path that need to know that he cares about them and that he will give me the wisdom and strength to share it.
