POTD (Proverbs of the Day)
(NKJV) Proverbs 18:1 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. There are many different ways to isolate yourself.
This proverb is one of my favorite ones because it reminds me how important it is to develop great relationships with people because I’ve noticed that when I don’t surround myself with awesome people, I make very bad decisions.
One way isolation can occur is through unforgiveness. Jesus uses a great parable about the unmerciful servant who does not forgive even after he has been forgiven. I feel challenged to let go of the things people have done to harm me. How do you get to the place where you can forgive like Jesus is asking us to forgive? My prayer is that God will make me aware of how much he has forgiven me and to make me extremely quick to forgive others. The last part of the parable doesn’t sound like fun (Being tortured). Have you ever felt tortured when you couldn’t let something go that bothered you? I pray you have a day filled with grace and mercy.
Here is something interesting that I heard this week: Mercy and grace have the same definition = getting something you don’t deserve. Sometimes we deserve punishment, yet I get to go free (mercy). Other times I don’t deserve something good, yet receive it (grace).
