John 3

John 3 journal

Proverbs 31:4-5 It is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. To me God was saying that there is a sacrifice for those in authority. They must take responsibility to stay away from things that will cause them to forget to serve those under them.

Are the first 30 chapters of proverbs for husbands and the last half of chapter 31 for wives? Hmm. (Is God saying that the guys have more to work on than the ladies?)

John 3. I like Jesus’ analogy of the wind and the Holy Spirit. We can’t see the wind, but we see how it affects the environment. The wind could be gentle or a violent hurricane. Sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks gently to people, and other times, it’s a harsh correction. My prayer today is that I will respond correctly to both the gentleness and the correction of the Holy Spirit and that the effects will be evident to others.

It’s unfortunate that people love the darkness for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 1 John 1:9 is one of my favorite verses “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” What an awesome God who is quick and faithful to show mercy to a repentant heart. My prayer today is that God will turn any areas of stone in my heart into a flexible heart.
