God is a just God. He hears the pleas of those who are left out. Some daughters of the an Israelite tribe were left without a father or husband to take care of them. They asked for their father’s inheritance and God granted their request. I also like how God affirms us. When Jesus was baptized, God spoke and said “This is my son, whom I love and am well pleased.” I believe he says that of each of us. Have you heard him say that lately? David responds in the Psalm – For my soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. I like all the connections between the passages today. John the Baptist preached repentance leads to salvation. Unfortunately Herod did not listen and put John in jail. My prayer today is that I can hear God’s voice and that my heart will be quick to forgive.
