Poor leadership

Exodus 34:1-35:9
Matthew 27:15-31
Psalm 33:12-22
Proverbs 9:1-6

Moses spent 40 days and nights talking with God. When he was done, he had to put a veil over his face because it radiated so brightly. When he came down from the mountain, he shared a lot of great boundaries that would keep the people from experiencing a lot of pain. One of those is to keep the Sabbath holy and rest. This one stuck out to me because last week I worked on Sunday and I definitely had a more challenging week than normal.

On the other hand, Pilate was a much different leader than Moses (at least when you compare these chapters of the Old and New Testament). The chief priests and Pharisees wanted to execute Jesus because they perceived that Jesus threatened their power. They pressured Pilate to release Barabbas instead of Jesus. When the people created an uproar, Pilate perceived that his power was threatened and gave in to them. Is anyone having difficulty with peer pressure? God I pray that you help me do what is right even if causes me to be unpopular.
