Proverbs of the Day – Proverbs 5:3-4 “For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.” Many things appear to provide pleasure forever. If those things go against God’s will, they will end up in bitterness.
John 8 journal – The story of the Pharisees trying to trap Jesus by bringing a woman caught in adultery is an example of how deceived people will do everything possible to rebel against God. There have been times when I felt like almost everyone wanted to throw stones at me, make false accusations, or amplify my challenges. It’s comforting to know that I have one who will fight my battles. Jesus then tells the woman to leave her life of sin. How is God asking me to change my life? I see areas where I have pride. I read a great Proverbs the other day (Proverbs 22:4 the reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches, honor, and life). My prayer today is that God will give me a humble heart and show me how to respect him more. I praise you God for fighting my battles.
